A Patient's Story

A patient contacted a staff member to express her gratitude towards the staff for the help her husband was able to receive during this time of uncertainty. He contacted the clinic one morning with complaints of tooth pain. After triage by our wonderful dental staff, he was able to complete a telehealth visit with Nurse Practitioner Susan Walkley and receive the medications needed. The patient was very pleased with how smooth the entire process was given the circumstances.

School Physicals and Immunization Clinics begin July 10 - Call for Appointment

The Board of Directors is proud to announce that Aaron Thompson has been appointed the new Executive Director of the rural safety net clinic serving James City County, the City of Williamsburg and York County residents. The clinic focuses on serving the uninsured and under insured of our community and Mr. Thompson brings a wealth of skills and knowledge to lead the center into its next phase of growth and impact while continuing its mission.

This news marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Olde Towne. Mr. Thompson recently served as a Director of JenCare in Richmond, Virginia, and before that was the Chief Operating Officer of Capital Area Health Network. He has a proven history of strengthening those organizations’ position for growth while improving quality care for their patients. Mr. Thompson is a dynamic leader who develops and builds strong programs designed to attain the strategic goals of the organization while energizing the staff to achieve those goals.

Multiple qualifications led the Board of Directors to choose Mr. Thompson including his ability to actively increase fundraising while motivating his team during challenging

circumstances, his ability to implement successful metrics for monitoring and maintaining high standards in the facilities he has managed as well as his constant

attention to patient care. He has extensive knowledge of working within multiple aspects of the health care field including pharmaceutical sales, telemedicine implementation, budget and data analysis, new market development and strategic planning just to name a

few. He has led organizations through service line expansions, revenue cycle improvement, electronic health record adoption, clinical affiliations cost reduction efforts

and physician contracting negotiations. He will provide overall leadership and direction

for all professional, administrative, technical, and clerical employees, ensuring the delivery of quality care and supporting ongoing improvement efforts.

With Mr. Thompson’s leadership and depth of experience leading and growing health programs, the Board is confident that the patients and staff at Olde Towne will receive the expertise and guidance that they have come to expect. Olde Towne’s Board Chairman Christopher James says “Aaron is an accomplished healthcare leader with the experience and dedication necessary to build and expand upon Olde Towne’s success.” He added, “Aaron’s deep understanding of community-based healthcare, as well as the needs of its patients and healthcare providers, will continue to help us deliver the highest quality

care to our patients.”

Mr. Thompson graduated from Hampton University with a Mass Media Communications degree and is a 2021 MBA candidate with a focus in Health Care Administration from

Virginia Commonwealth University. “I would first like to say, ‘Thank You’ to the Board of Directors for the opportunity to lead such an esteemed and necessary organization. For the better part of 19 years, I have had the pleasure of being at the forefront of initiatives

that have positioned organizations like Olde Towne to support high quality growth while meeting industry changes and challenges to bring community-based

healthcare to those who need it most. The healthcare industry is complex and I am fortunate to have been able to successfully direct major division transformations to stay competitive and to help develop agile workplace cultures. I am most excited about being

in a position to oversee the development of new and innovative ideas designed to strengthen and enhance core services offered to Olde Towne patients. I look forward to

collaborating and working closely with stakeholders and maintaining open lines of communication in pursuit of shared organization goals to meet the needs of the

community. I also look forward to further executing Olde Towne’s Mission, “To provide quality, cost-effective, coordinated and preventive primary healthcare to clients,

regardless of their ability to pay.”

e are excited to welcome Mr. Aaron Thompson as the new Executive Director at Olde Towne Medical & Dental Center.
